Inquisitors

At present the strike force of the Emperors Disciples, the 3rd company of the Eagle Knights, the 56th Dagr Ormr MT, and the Hjaltland Yeomanry battle group, formed of various element left from the Hjaltland Rebellion, are under the direct control of the Inquisition, requisitioned from their respective forces by two Inquisitors, namely Inquisitor Sophiana and Inquisitor Tamhas.

Sophiana is a member of the Ordo Hereticus and a follower of Xanthism. His main area operation is within the Segmentum Pacificus, and as such has formed numerous links with the Eagle Knights space marine chapter, a chapter whose views and ideas are similar to the inquisitors.  As a result of this alliance, they have fought many battles together and investigated many artifacts and anomalies. Sophiana himself is an old and disgruntled man, saddened by the lack of commitment from those around him and there reluctance to do what he deems necessary to ensure the survival of the human race. 

Currently the 15h company of the Disciples and the 3rd company of Eagle Knights, along with  the 56th Dagr Ormr and a number of AM forces are currently requisitioned by Sophiana for the investigation of Chaos taints across parts of the Segmentum Pacificus and in particular the areas of the Sabbat Worlds that are on the edge of the crusade that is occurring there.

Inquisitor Sophiana , is an aging inquisitor, in the twilight of his career, and as such has taken a young inquisitor by the name of Tamhas under his wing. Sophiana has travel the length and breadth of the Imperium in search of answers, and is a member of the Xanthism faction, a radical faction of the Inquisition who believe in studying and understanding the power of chaos, and turning it to constructive purposes. While this is at odd with many an Inquisitor, especially the more puritan aspects of the organisation, it is seen by the members of the faction as the only way to ensure the survival of man. After all, how can you destroy something when you know nothing about it.

Sophiana has repeatedly been drawn to the Segmentum Pacificus by the turbulent nature of the segmentum and the events that have unfolded there in recent history, including the Night of a Thousand Rebellions and the Sabbat Worlds Rebellion. With the instability and the unusually high level of chaos taint within the area, the chances for study are almost limitless. Tamhas , although a relatively young Inquisitor, by Inquisitorial standards, has already shown remarkable zeal for the Xanthism cause. It is for this reason that the older inquisitor has taken the young man as an apprentice, to guide him and teach him, so that he may continue the work Sophiana and his predecessors, have started. It is also to ensure that he does not stray too far from the path of righteousness into the darkness, for one can look to deep into the heart of Chaos all too easily.

The view of many of the Xanthities does not meld well with other parts of the Ordos Xenos, and also with the Deathwatch, this has led to many forming alliances of their own. As a result of these differences, it has been necessary to maintain a small force of loyal servants to act as both a bodyguard and also a strike force should the need arise. Sophiana has over the years amassed a number of servants from a variety of different backgrounds to act in such a manner. Due to the fact that the Inquisitors' work brings them into contact with many forces of Chaos, including the possibility of chaos Marines, Sophiana has recruited those most skilled with both blade and shield. Those who have shown exceptional skill with a blade have been armed with power swords and those who have shown extreme stubbornness have been given shields, so that when combined these units can defend the inquisitors from even the most skilled and determined foes. In addition to these units, a smaller number of men, who are skilled with a rifle have also been recruited and armed to take on foes less determined.

All of the servants in Sophiana ’ service own both their lives and loyalty to Sophiana for many of these warriors, especially those whom skill lies with sword and shield have been recruited from within Chaos Cults, and in exchange for their lives that have sworn an oath to protect and serve Sophiana . Although it is not always obvious, one other reason for recruiting members of various Chaos Cults is their familiarity with the ways of Chaos, which have proved useful on numerous occasions, both in terms of intellectually in the pursuit of knowledge and physically on the field of battle. The exceptions to this are those who were recruited for their prowess with a rifle, for many of these were recruited from the ranks of the imperial guard and various PDF regiment with which Sophiana has come into contact over the years. These men are recruited for their steadfast aim and coolness under fire and are almost extensively made up of veterans who were born within shouting distance of one battle field or another.

It was during the fighting that the presence of the Inquisition was first noted. No one is sure exactly when they arrived or their reasons for coming. It appears though that the inquisitors, while maintaining an outwards appearance of unity, are deeply decided in both their ideology and methods. It appears that two of the inquisitors, inquisitor Marcus Sophiana , of the Ordo Hereticus and inquisitor Tamhas , an Ordo Malleus inquisitor, are more aligned with each other. However the third inquisitor, inquisitor Sophiania Etiennia, an Ordo Xenos inquisitor, is very much at odds with the others, and there have been several tense moments when the three have been sighted together.

The inquisitors have been sighted one numerous occasions with their various followers, however they have also been seen in the presence of other forces, either Grey Knights, Deathwatch or Sister of Battle respectively. They have also been seen with the other forces, Sophiana and Tamhas with the Eagle Knights and Emperors Disciples respectively and Etiennia with the Dagr Ormr.

It was shortly after all organized resistance by separatist forces ceased that Inquisitor Sophiana, alongside inquisitor Tamhas, formally requisitioned the Hjaltland Yeomanry Division and the MT Dagr Ormr, as well as the forces of the Eagle Knights and Emperors Disciples. The inquisitors requisitioned these forces to investigate and eliminate any remaining cults or renegade forces in the system. In addition, in recent days there have been a number of raids and incursions by other forces, ranging from Dark Eldar Pirates to Tyranid organisms, which have occurred across all the planets in the system, much to the concern of all the inquisitors. Inquisitor Etiennia has yet to give formal agreement to join the others in their quest for answers but so far, she seems to be assisting their efforts.
